Steve Perry surprised a bunch of his fans on Saturday by showing up, completely unexpected, at Journey's star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in the middle of a fan meet and greet. Members of another Perry forum (mine isn't the only one...?) had planned a meeting there and Steve just happened to be in town on business. Before I get flooded with requests, please note that this was not planned by anyone or Steve in advance and it isn't something he normally does. It just turned out to be a lucky day for some adoring fans. How cool is that? This should give you some incentive to join our forum!

The photo section has ben updated- check out more great, original photography of Steve and the guys back in the day.

According to Andrew at Melodicrock.com, AOR session man and famed guitarist/songwriter Tommy Denander is busy working in LA and reports,"The plan is still on to write with Steve Perry next week so I hope it happens cause it would be very cool..."
April 19, 2006
According to John Kalodner, "Right now Steve Perry and I are repackaging (with original packaging and artwork) and bringing up the masters to the state of the art CD standards for the entire Journey catalog and Steve's solo records. They should be released in the Summer and Fall of 2006."
April 18, 2006
Journey fans and music buffs in general should head over to Backstage Auctions and register to participate in the San Francisco Rock Icon Auction, an "unbelievable collection of memorabilia from some of San Francisco's most celebrated Rock Icons", according to their website. The auction will go live April 23 - 30 and the preview can be viewed now. Click here for amazing, one of a kind Journey souvenirs.

It's not necessarily Steve news, but Rolling Stone does talk briefly about him in this article about Journey's upcoming tour.
Def Leppard, Journey to Rock Arenas
Veteran acts can't stop believin' in that rock of ages
No strangers to arenas, Eighties rockers Def Leppard and Seventies ballad masters Journey are teaming up for a massive, three-month summer tour that kicks off June 23rd in Camden, New Jersey, and wraps August 31st in Seattle.
Journey has sold more than seventy-five million albums over the course of their three-decade career. Last year, the band released their nineteenth album, Generations, and were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Although Journey, after seven years of animosity, were reunited with former vocalist Steve Perry at the unveiling of their star last January, Perry will not be touring with the group. Journey's current lineup, in place since 1998, features Steve Augeri on vocals, founding guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Ross Valory, keyboardist Jonathan Cain and drummer Deen Castronovo.
Meanwhile, Def Leppard released a twenty-fifth anniversary greatest hits package last year, and spent the better part of 2005 touring alongside Bryan Adams and Cheap Trick. While the rockers are slated to release Yeah! -- a collection of covers of tunes by bands from E.L.O. to Thin Lizzy -- in time for their summer tour, the group is also preparing to record a new studio album, due in 2007.
"We've really tried to gather ideas on the road," guitarist Vivian Campbell told Rolling Stone earlier this year.
February 19, 2006
As first mentioned in the All Things Forum on February 8th, the UK website contactmusic.com has published an interview with Steve containing this interesting info about any possible Journey reunion:
Former JOURNEY frontman STEVE PERRY refuses to contact his ex-bandmates, because he fears any show of unity will spark rumours they are to reform.
The OPEN ARMS hitmaker is determined to end speculation of a comeback tour, after his brief appearance at his Hollywood Walk Of Fame honouring in January last year (05), triggered hope among fans.
He says, "I showed up because the thought came to me that if anybody deserved to be there, I deserved to be there too."
"One of the things that makes it difficult to have contact with the members is that as a result of going to the Star Walk of Fame and showing up at the last minute, some of the members have used that on some of their promotional radio interviews."
"So if there's anything that keeps me from contacting the members it's that it's always turned into something else and I don't want to participate in that sort of thing."
The entire article can be found on the forum, with thanks going out to Naz.
February 11, 2006
In the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Steve is quoted in an article about digital downloading helping to fuel the continued growth of classic rock.
"It makes me so happy that a new generation would embrace something we believed in," says former Journey singer Steve Perry. "Back when we were first successful, we were dissed -- but time has told a different story."

Steve's annual birthday message from Fan Asylum:
First of all, I must get one thing out of the way; because of so many recent inquiries, I want to make very clear: "I am not on MYSPACE.COM nor have I ever been." and that's that !! Please don't be deceived. Where were we.....Oh yea....."43" .........{again} !! Time does fly. Last summer as I was working on the Houston Live DVD, it seemed like that show was just the other day. It certainly felt that way. I'm very proud to have been in the band in 1981. We were good together !!!
As I think about my birthday I remember, my Mom and Dad told me once that they always wanted a son but would have been happy no matter what. Well they got a son and between Mom's don't give up attitude and my Dad making me laugh by tickling me to the point of my pants, I always knew I had much love around me. I remember Dad would always sing me to sleep. That was so great. SO..... I guess what I'm saying is..... This is my Mom and Dad's day and I am so grateful for our time we had together. I will always love and miss them very much.
Thank you all for your birthday messages and wishes and all your contributions to so many wonderful charities on my behalf.
For years now so many of you have always been so Faithful and I thank you so very, very much.
Till next time,
Love ya......Steve Perry

Happy Birthday, Stephen Ray Perry. (Born 1949) And let's not forget Sam Cooke. (Born 1931)
January 14, 2006
The photo section has been revamped and now features original pics of Steve and Perry-era Journey by the actual phtographers. If you've taken any photos you'd like to share with the world, submit 'em with dates and names of cities they were taken in. Recent pictures of Steve or the band back in the day are welcome.

From the David Pack website:
David and Steve Perry reunited this month to edit the next single from David's "Secret of Movin On" CD which will be their co-written song "A Brand New Start"..featuring special guest vocals by Mr. Soul himself who co-produced the song. It will be released in February, and Concord/Peak records are gearing up for a major national promotion campaign.
I urge anyone who loves Steve Perry or melodic rock to check out former Ambrosia frontman David Pack's new album, The Secret Of Moving On, with other guests including Ann Wilson of Heart and Timothy b Schmidt of The Eagles.
December 21, 2005
Mitch Lafon conducted an interview with Steve Perry on December 9th and has given me permission to reprint it. It is excellent and a must-read for all Perry fans. You can read it here, as well as checking out the official site. Many thanks to Andrew at melodicrock.com for the hookup!
December 15, 2005
The new "All Things" forum is now live. Visitors to this website and fans of Steve Perry the world over now have a new home to post, gossip, vent and generally discuss anything and all things Steve Perry. Even if you don't have much to say, I invite each and every one of you to send Steve birthday greetings. The big day is January 22.
December 13, 2005
This is strangely appealing to me. Rejected TV sitcom ideas have now found a home on the web, as Channel 101 features an original comedy sketch called Yacht Rock. It is described as a " mockumentary that portrays Hall and Oates as back-alley brawlers and Journey singer Steve Perry as a karate-kicking motivational speaker". Just go there. Words fail me.

For the total White Sox experience, check out this new DVD, which includes a "...montage to the music of the White Sox World Series anthem, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'. Thanks to Eric for the info.

Obviously, the site has a new
look. After 7 years of that lovely black background I decided it was time to
clean things up a bit. (And after a little constructive criticism...)Hopefully
everything will be fully functional by the time you read this. I'd like to
remind you that every time someone clicks on the Google ads to the left of this
page, I make a few pennies. Keep clicking- Christmas is here! Oh, and this site
is best viewed in 1024 x 768; otherwise it sucks. (Completely my fault- not the nice people I got the template from!)

If you haven't bought the Houston
DVD yet, you should be ashamed. Steve has done a remarkable job putting the
package together and Sony Legacy wants to tease you into a purchase by offering
the "Don't Stop Believin'" video as an incentive. Check 'em out.
The videos are available in Quicktime,
Real and
Windows Media

Steve has answered many of the fan questions over at Fan Asylum. He starts out
with this...
I'd like to say to all the fans who remember the way it was.....It was so long
ago that we were together and yet, it seems like yesterday. I guess our time
together is timeless, it really did happen and now it's ours forever. Because of
all of you, my life was launched into “Living The Dream.” I hope we do see each
other again, somewhere, someday.
Sincerely,
Steve Perry

After years of public inactivity, our man is still relevant. I caught this
interview with, of all people, Jennifer Aniston this morning and one of her
"Seven Things I'd Rather Talk About"...
"I also want to know why Steve Perry left Journey." I love it.
October

It's not quite as exciting as the past week's festivities (I'm emotionally
drained...)but Sunday (November 13th) OFF THE RECORD with
Joe Benson will
feature the music of Journey's new DVD "Live In Houston 1981: The Escape Tour"
and Joe's brand new conversation with Steve Perry. Don't miss it!

Steve
Perry Sings To Crowd of 1.7 Million
October 28, 2005
I've been waiting soooo long to write that. Technically he did sing the first
verse and chorus, along with members of the 2005 World Series champions White
Sox team, of their new theme song "Don't Stop Believin". It was a surreal moment
which capped off a week that has given our favorite front man the most publicity
he has seen in a while.
Many of you across the country have sent me countless links to videos and news
stories detailing Steve Perry's love of the game and his gracious good nature as
he grants song requests from reporters and professional baseball players alike.
We've seen him in the stands for every game and in the locker room with the
newly crowned champions.
I'll be linking video clips for those of you who haven't seen them, but for now
I'm going to bed where I'll be dreaming up ways to get Steve to come to my
wedding. Hey, Steve... it's in December- you have plenty of time. I'll buy your
ticket. Is coach okay?

Two articles from The Chicago Sun-Times:
Sox Would Welcome Rocker With Open Arms
October 19, 2005
White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski doesn't want to stop believing.
That's why he asked White Sox officials to try to invite former Journey front
man Steve Perry to the World Series to sing.
Sox spokesman Scott Reifert said Pierzynski wants Perry to perform the Journey
song, "Don't Stop Believin'"-- which is fast becoming the team's theme song --
or at least stop by the Sox clubhouse.
The song, it seems, reached its elevated status after a bunch of Sox players
went out to a club in Baltimore after a game during a series there July 29 to
Aug. 1. There was a band playing covers, and the players -- for reasons yet to
be detailed -- started "chanting for Journey," Reifert said. The band obliged
and performed the 1981 hit.
The team started to play the song in its clubhouse, and it even put it on in the
visitors' locker room after the team won the pennant in Anaheim.
Reifert said he has reached out to the crooner but hasn't heard back yet. Dave

And then there was this...
Don't Stop Believin' This
Published October 18, 2005
The White Sox have a theme song. Steady yourselves. The Sox have adopted
Journey's 1981 hit "Don't Stop Believin'" as their postseason rallying cry, with
A.J. Pierzynski blaring the tune in the clubhouse after the team's American
League pennant-clinching victory over the Angels on Sunday. The players also
sang the tune on the flight home from Anaheim.
Now the Sox have invited former Journey frontman Steve Perry to Chicago as a
guest for Game 1 of the World Series Saturday at the Cell. "A.J. said, `We've
got to get this guy to the World Series,'" Sox vice president of communications,
Scott Reifert, told the Tribune. "Now we're just trying to see what we can do
and how we can do it."

This is rather amusing... from the August 19th edition of
Entertainment Weekly magazine:
Perry Patrol, rock hard! Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" enters iTunes' top 10
downloads after Laguna Beach plug.
I'm so out of touch, I don't even know what Laguna Beach is.
Also, John Kalodner reports on his website, in response to the long-awaited 2nd
Journey DVD collection, that he and Steve Perry "will probably start to work on
it this Summer and hopefully it will be released by Christmas." Coolness.
July 13,
2005
Wow. I got a whole lotta nothin' for you guys. I'm only updating
so that everyone can see my site is still active! In non-Perry news, I bought a
new Journey-sounding car. I traded in my Infiniti for an Escape. How cool is
that? Right. So does anyone have suggestions for future site content? Should I
start a blog or perhaps a user survey or forum...? And do I wanna mention the
new, fantastic Journey album? You guys tell me.

MelodicRock.com is reporting that the 1983 Journey documentary,
"Frontiers And Beyond" is going to once again be made available to consumers.
There is a January 26 2005 street date for an overseas release, but I don't know
at this time if it will be made available immediately to U.S. buyers or if ever,
for that matter. Stay tuned for more on that.
Hey, ya see those ads right there? If you click on any of them, I get a few
pennies. That means I might actually be able to pay for this site and *gasp*-
update regularly! Cool, huh? I'm a sell-out. I am now a greedy, corporate
machine. We do what we must.
December

Wow, it's been a really long time. I cannot believe I haven't

I can make this site better for the coming new year. I'm engaged now ( a Journey

An update from John Kalodner's website about the upcoming
DVDs...
The first DVD will be a collection of their MTV videos, approximately fifteen,
from 1978 - 1998. Maybe the next one will be of some concerts with Steve Perry
and the band. It's a good idea to look into some of their TV appearances,
although it's hard to get clearances from old shows to use in DVDs for sale. The
sequence of the first DVD will be settled in the next week or so and I will post
it here.
August 11,
2003
Awesome news! According to his website, John Kalodner has made
it public that Columbia Records will be releasing Journey with Steve Perry DVDs
this fall from recordings done in the 80's. This is the best thing I've heard in
a long time.
Also... Jeff Golub's "Soul Sessions" album came out on August 5th, with Steve
adding vocals on track number 8, "Can't Let You Go". Check out the info on
Jeff's Site. Thanks to Brett for the heads up.
July 17,
2003
John Kalodner, in response to the many questions he gets on the
status of Steve's career, updated the Q&A segment of his website with the
following news:
ANNOUNCEMENT TO STEVE PERRY FANS
Once and for all, if Steve Perry wanted to sing, or wants to sing at ANY TIME,
any manager, promoter or agent would be ecstatic. It’s not that anyone is
preventing him or standing in his way; in fact, the Journey band with Steve
Augeri has an open invitation to him to sing any songs (or even one) at any
Journey show, now or in the future. Irving Azoff and John Baruck (Journey’s
managers) have an open invitation to Steve Perry to do one song, one show, or a
tour, or anything Steve Perry would want to do, at any time. Unfortunately, at
this time Steve Perry prefers a private life and does not want to sing.
- John Kalodner
Okay, so obviously it's not the best news in the world for Steve Perry fans, but
it certainly doesn't mean that our favorite performer won't ever record again.
We certainly cannot begrudge him his personal life and I, for one, stay
ever-hopeful. We are his fans and we will support him in whatever decisions he
makes. That's what fans do.
June 05,
2003
Steve has added vocals to a song on the new Jeff Golub album.
Check out the cool story on MelodicRock.com
February
27, 2003
I never watch network TV, so this may be old news. American Idol
contestant Corey Clark chose "Foolish Heart" as his number for the February 25th
show and apparently impressed the judges, one of whom is none other than Randy
Jackson, bass player for the "Raised On Radio" album and tour. Randy remained
friends with Steve during Journey's long break and eventually had a hand in
picking the "For The Love Of Strange Medicine" band. Thanks to Todd and Gina for
the heads up...
November

VH1 is counting down the top 100 love songs this week and
Journey made it in twice, with "Faithfully" at number 59 and "Open Arms" at
number 4.

July 02,

An update, of sorts...this information was posted on
MelodicRock.com, an outstanding source of news about our favorite type of music:
Steve Perry might not be actively recording, but he is writing music. No, I have
not heard anything to suggest Perry will be singing again soon, but as well as
writing with David Pack, Perry has this year been writing with Babys drummer
Tony Brock.
June 19,

An item of note in the midst of this Perry news drought; This is
only marginally news worthy, but the Hotel Steve filmed the video for "Oh
Sherrie" in is featured in the movie, "Not Another Teen Movie". It's where the
senior prom takes place. Cool, huh? Check it out- it's still just the same.

Lora sends along another update from Steve, with some bummer
news about his much-anticipated website... many thanks for allowing me to
reprint the message.
Hi, this is Steve Perry and I'm giving you this message via the phone to Lora at
Fan Asylum. Lora has brought it to my attention that there are many birthday
messages being posted on various Web sites and she has relayed several of them
to me for I do not surf the Internet. I have also seen a nice birthday message
placed in the San Diego Union Tribune. As most of you know, I've yet to launch
steveperry.com and I'm not sure that will happen. Nevertheless I truly do
appreciate all the wonderful greetings and well wishes you have given me for my
birthday.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Steve Perry

Recent Questions & Answers(updated Thursday, September 6th 2001) To all of you
who have been asking about Journey and/or Steve Perry: Steve Perry and I are
working an expanded Essential Journey Greatest Hits in collaboration with Neal
Schon and Jonathan Cain that is to be released on October 16th. It will have 32
songs from Journey with Steve Perry singing. Steve Perry is doing well and very
active in this compilation. We are so happy to see that there are so many
Journey fans. Regarding the issue of their singer, we appreciate that all of you
are interested in the future of Journey but as it stands right now, there is no
change in the line-up. That's all I have to say at this point in time. -JDK

*Finally*, VH1 will be airing a "Behind The Music" special on
Journey! The following was posted by Neal Schon on the official Journey
website...
Hey everybody-
We filmed interviews with everyone this last week. The ones that haven't been
interviewed so far are Steve Smith, Greg Rolie, and Aynsley Dunbar....but
everyone will be interviewed. I did mine yesterday, and I was exhausted when I
got done. We filmed for nearly 5 hours. VH1 is also coming to our show in Las
Vegas, and will be filming Deen and Steve at our pre-production there. So,
yes....Steve Perry has done his interview...then Jonathon, Ross, and myself.
That's about it, I just wanted to give you an update on this.
Happy Holidays to all, Neal
